Reviewed: Pamela Mann 120 Denier 3D Plus Size Opaque Tights

Hosiery brand Pamela Mann sent us opaque tights from their Plus Size range to trial and review.

Pamela Mann was established in 1956, and are a well know British hosiery brand. Their legwear is manufactured in Europe but all final production phases - embellishing, printing and packing - take place in-house.

Alongside the Pamela Mann brand, they also offer a comprehensive range of 'own label' hosiery to many retailers on the UK high street.

We previously reviewed the Pamela Mann 80 Denier Plus Size Black Opaque Tights.

We now focus on the Pamela Mann 120 Denier 3D Plus Size Opaque Tights.

Materials and features

The Pamela Mann 120 Denier 3D Plus Size Opaque Tights are part of Pamela Mann's extensive range of plus size tights and other legwear.

Pamela Mann describe these tights as follows:

"120 denier opaque tights provide a dark thick coverage of the leg, ideal for colder seasons. Our opaque tights are a high quality due to the use of 3D yarn, knitted together to add extra endurance and elasticity of the tight."

The tights are packaged very simply. They are folded and then enclosed in a card clasp.

The 3D yarn, which is made from 94% Nylon and 6% Elastane. They are Italian-made, which is already a good pointer to the quality on offer.

The tights have a smooth, soft feel with a slight shine when caught in the light. As described by Pamela Mann, the tights a high level of elasticity.

Key features are:

  • 120 denier. The opaque coverage is dense, even and complete.
  • Deep panty/brief with a rear comfort panel in both sizes tried. Seams are conventional
  • Sheer to waist.
  • 5cm wide waistband.
  • Reinforced toes
Fit and sizing

The Pamela Mann 120 Denier 3D Plus Size Opaque Tights are available in four sizes:

  • One size
  • 16-18
  • 20-26
  • 28-32

I tried these tights in the two sizes that Pamela Mann sent Hosiery For Men: 20-26 and 28-32.

The sizing information indicates that they will fit heights of up to 5'10". That is fine as that is exactly my height.

The fit was very good with both sizes. They were easy to put on and basically hug the legs providing a very moderate amount of compression.

There was a little bit of bunching at the knee when bent, but this is quite normal for a higher denier, thicker tight. And as you flex you leg again, this disappears and the tights mould themselves to the leg once more.

The brief is deep and comfortable. I found that after a bit of wear the waistband seemed to lose a little elasticity.

These tights are so easy and comfortable to wear.

I wore them on a cold day with shorts and they really keep my legs warm and cosy.
